Health Care Service
Program
While the health of
registered aboriginals has improved and continues to improve, life
expectancy is considerably below the national families level. Add
this to the fact that more aboriginal families are relying on social
assistance payments for income, and there is a clear need for better
access to health care for people. With these facts in mind, we
undertook this health care service on April 1, 1999, and will
continue it as long as the need is there. It is primarily a referral
service, to help connect people to the various programs available to
them. To this end we are working in affiliation with a number of
Ottawa Valley groups.
